For many years, Jack has been part of the Home and Community Options family, receiving support as he’s grown and taken exciting steps toward independence. He has grown in confidence, independence, and skill.

While starting his HCO journey at the Resource Home, he recently reached two big milestones: graduating from Lewiston-Altura High School and moving from his childhood home to living in an HCO residential home.

Change can take time, but Jack approached his move with courage and enthusiasm. Before settling in, he got to meet his new roommates, see his room, and even choose the color for his walls, helping him feel right at home from the start. Now that he’s settled in, Jack has found plenty to love about his new home, including being closer to several family members.

Jack also recently began working at the DAC and was incredibly proud to receive his first paycheck from there. Before that, he worked at a senior living facility near his high school, where he helped deliver water to residents, something he really enjoyed.

When he’s not busy with work or activities, Jack enjoys many hobbies. He likes drawing with chalk, playing games like Jenga and Uno, and working on puzzles. Shopping is another favorite pastime. Dollar Tree and Dollar General are two of his go-to places. He’s a fan of TV shows like The Middle, Good Luck Charlie, Jeopardy!, and Cash Cab, and he loves going fishing whenever he can, catching whatever happens to bite that day.

Looking ahead, Jack has a clear vision for his future. He hopes to continue living in his current home and spend more time with the people he cares about. One of his personal goals is to learn how to cook so he can make some of his favorite meals on his own.

Jack’s story is one of growth, independence, and joy in the simple things that make life meaningful. His positive attitude and determination continue to shine through in everything he does.
