Testimonials

My semester at Home and Community Options has been educational and eye-opening. As a writing intern, my tasks have included interviewing directors, transcribing interviews, and writing narratives about their time at the agency. I also did so for a few individuals and helped with event articles and advertisements. Through getting to know the people at the agency, as well as being given a supportive and welcoming space to write creatively, I have learned that agencies like Home and Community Options are where I would like to work in the future.
Rachel Storey, Writing Intern
HCO has provided me with countless learning experiences that I will use in my future in the social work field. I have gained an immense amount of knowledge about public policy and every component that goes into running a nonprofit organization. I have enjoyed being able to witness many of the difficult decisions and hard work that goes into making sure Home and Community Options, Inc. runs as well as it does. Everyone here is so passionate about what they do, which has inspired me to do the same throughout my career.
Hannah Wessels, Social Work Intern, Scholars Program
My experience at HCO granted me with extremely beneficial real world experiences that have heightened my excitement for a career in social services. It gave me the opportunity to see the wonderful impact that the individuals served can make in both the community and lives of others. Through it, I have made valuable connections and friendships that will last me a lifetime.
Neil Hoffman, Social Work Intern

During my time here at HCO, I have realized that I have made the right decision in going into Human Services/Social Services program. I did not realize that the need for in-home and residential programs were as high as they are in our area. I have connected with all of the individuals that I have worked with here at HCO, and I want to thank everyone that has been a part of my journey thru my internship. I look forward to see what the future will bring.

Brittany Dannehy, Human Services Intern

Through Home and Community Options, I have learned so much not only about Human Resources, but about the great work that the agency does. I enjoyed the work I have done because it feels like I am making a difference. I have learned many things about my degree that I cannot learn in the classroom. I believe from being an intern here, I have become a better person because I have opened my eyes to so many new things.
