Born and raised in Winona with her brother and sister, Mary has always loved her hometown. Some of her favorite memories include going to Steamboat Days with her family, enjoying the fair, carnival, and all the fun activities.
As she got older, she was ready to take the next step toward independence.
At 19, Mary took that step by moving into an HCO home while finishing high school at Winona Senior High. She was proud to graduate and celebrated with a special party with her roommates. Soon after, she started working at Winona ORC, where she has found purpose and fulfillment in her work.
Now, in 2025, Mary is celebrating an incredible milestone—30 years of receiving services from Home & Community Options! Over the years, she has lived in different HCO homes and enjoys life with her wonderful roommates.
Outside of work, Mary loves spending time with her dad and his girlfriend, watching Adventures in Babysitting, and getting excited about setting up her new TV.
On March 5th, Mary celebrated her 50th birthday! Her family, friends, and roommates came together for a fun and joyful party. She had a beautifully decorated cake, received thoughtful gifts and cards, and spent the day surrounded by love and laughter. It was a truly special day that she will always remember.
One of Mary’s biggest dreams is to have a future with her longtime boyfriend. They have been together for 12 years and love spending time together.
She continues to enjoy her independence, taking pride in the life she has built for herself. She works hard at her job, values her relationships, and is always looking ahead to new experiences. With the support of her loved ones and Home & Community Options, she is committed to reaching her personal goals—whether that means learning new skills, strengthening her independence, or planning for the future.
