Intern Spotlight: Erica Johnson
This summer I began a new chapter at Home and Community Options by stepping into a communications internship. While HCO was already a familiar place to me because of my work as a Direct Support Professional, my internship has allowed me to experience the organization from a whole new perspective. As a marketing student at Winona State University, I was looking for an internship that would provide real-world experience while allowing me to continue working for an organization whose mission aligned with my values. Having already experienced HCO firsthand as a DSP, I knew the people, programs, and mission of the organization. My communications internship gave me the opportunity to take that familiarity and look at HCO through a different lens, using my creativity and marketing skills to help tell the stories of the people who make HCO special.
