Eli Glor’s path to HCO has been shaped bydiverse experiences and a search for meaningful work. Originally from Lanesboro, Minnesota, Eli began his journey with the agency in 2009 at the Saehler Drive resource home. When one of his clients transitioned to living independently at Pleasant Valley, Eli moved with him, continuing his role there until relocating to Missoula, Montana, in 2015. Upon returning to the area, he resumed his work at Pleasant Valley, where he quicklyadvanced to the role of Program Assistant, overseeing both Pleasant Valley and 745.Currently, he serves as the Primary Counselor, Behavioral Aid at Pleasant Valley.
Before joining HCO, Eli spent years working in food service and construction but felt unfulfilled. Seeking something more impactful, he took the advice of a roommate and applied for a position at HCO. From the start, he was struck by the wide range of services the agency provided, opening his eyes to the impact a single organization could have on the lives of individuals and their families.
What has kept Eli committed to HCO over the years is the sense of purpose he finds in his work. He values the opportunity to make a difference daily, knowing that his efforts matter to the clients he supports. His work has also deepened his understanding of nonverbalcommunication. Observing how much can be expressed through body language, posture, and facial expressions has taught him to be more perceptive and empathetic, both professionally and personally.
Beyond the work itself, Eli has formed lasting relationships with his clients, describing their impact on his life as equally significant as his influence on theirs. Advocating for those who cannot speak for themselves has become a deeply rewarding aspect of his role, strengthening his commitment to the agency and its mission.
Outside of work, Eli leads a vibrant life filled with family, music, and a love for the outdoors. He is the eldest of three siblings and now has a family of his own, including his wife, their six-year-old daughter, and a son expected in April. At home, they share their space with three dogs, a cat, and a flock of chickens—unexpected but much-loved companions that came with the house he purchased a few years ago. Gardening and caring for the animals remind him of the time he spent on his grandparents’ farm as a child, offering a sense of peace and contentment.
Eli is also a passionate musician, playing in local bands that span genres from acoustic folk to heavy metal. Balancing his hobbies with his work and family life, he finds joy in the simple yet profound moments that make up his days.
For those considering a role at HCO, Eli advises developing strong listening skills, embracing empathy, and keeping an open mind. His journey illustrates the fulfillment that comes from dedicating oneself to meaningful work and building connections that truly matter.
