Milton’s journey with Home and Community Options spans more than 40 years and reflects a life built on stability, growth, and meaningful connections. Over the years, he has found a sense of home in many places, and for the past ten years he has enjoyed the comfort and familiarity of where he lives today. When Milton reflects on his life there, he shares that not much has changed over the years, but the consistency is comforting to him.

Some of Milton’s favorite memories include attending HCO picnics, playing Wii bowling, and spending time with friends. One of the things that brings him the most joy is spending time with his girlfriend, Lori. Being with friends and the people he cares about is what truly makes Milton happy.

In his free time, Milton enjoys relaxing at home and watching TV. Some of his favorite shows include The Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy, and old cartoons. When he is out in the community, he loves going out to eat, going to the movies, and attending church on Sundays.

Milton also enjoys preparing food and, of course, enjoying his favorite meals. Hamburgers and mac and cheese are among his top choices, and on Wednesday nights he proudly helps with cooking at the house. From meatloaf to pork chops, Milton enjoys being part of the process and contributing in a meaningful way.

When asked what he wishes more people knew about him, Milton shared how proud he is to be a strong self-advocate and how important it is to him to speak up for himself. He was honored to be recognized as the Self Advocate of the Year in 2018, an award he still proudly displays in his room.

Above all, his goals remain heartfelt and simple. He wants to continue being happy, spending time with friends and loved ones, and enjoying the activities and relationships that mean the most to him. Milton’s story continues to be one of connection, independence, and the joy found in everyday moments.
