Please welcome Darin Olson, the newest addition to the Home and Community Options team as our Facilities and Project Management Director. With decades of experience in construction and a lifelong connection to the Winona area, Darin brings a strong blend of professional knowledge, community pride, and heartfelt dedication to his new role.
Winona has been a part of Darin’s story for most of his life, aside from a few years after graduating from Winona State University and RCTC. Drawn back by the beauty of the region and the strong sense of community, he returned to raise his family and build a life grounded in the values he holds dear.
He is a proud father to two wonderful adult children, Cortney and Kyle. Spending time with close family and friends—continues to be one of the greatest joys in his life. He finds comfort and meaning in simple pleasures: traveling, being outdoors, and enjoying activities like boating, fishing, golfing, biking, and hiking, especially around the places he knows so well.
Giving back has always been important to Darin. His time volunteering with the Alzheimer’s Association and Friends of Perrot Park reflects his desire to stay engaged and support causes that make a lasting difference.
His professional journey began in the construction field while still in high school. For the past 30 years, he worked at Kendell Lumber in Winona as an Estimator and Outside Sales Representative. He truly valued the relationships he built with local contractors and customers and took pride in helping bring countless building projects to life across the community.
Now, he’s excited to channel that same dedication into his role at HCO—helping guide the strategic planning of facilities and project management to further the organization’s mission. For years, Darin has admired the work HCO and its staff have done to support individuals with developmental disabilities. To be part of that mission now, working alongside such a compassionate and collaborative team, is something he feels deeply grateful for.
Welcome, Darin—we’re lucky to have you!
