As HCO’s health department continues to grow, we are adding an additional RN to our team! This RN will strive to provide person-centered, holistic support to individuals with developmental disabilities while providing safe and effective nursing care. This nurse will provide care primarily in the home environment while fostering relationships with individuals served, as well as coworkers.

Qualifications:
- Hold a current Registered Nurse license for the State of Minnesota.
- Pass criminal background study.
- Three years or more of registered nursing experience preferred.
- Experience or additional training in developmental disabilities or related human services field preferred.
- Ability to follow health care plans and to take proper action that will be in the best interest of the person.
- Able to prioritize needs and respond to immediate agency concerns.
- Possess a valid driver’s license. Driving personal vehicle required.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain open and professional communication with Health Services Director and all agency personnel.
- Follow scope of nursing practice and perform duties as delegated by Health Services Director.
- Provide phone support, from your location, two weekends per month with occasional, additional time based on agency needs and staffing patterns. Call volume being approximately five calls per weekend.
- Teach medication administration class to agency personnel.
- Respond to individual needs by having a full range of communication abilities (hearing, verbal, and vision).
- Respond to and provide guidance to operational situations relating to the health and wellness of individuals and report information to the Health Services Director.
- Move about and travel to program sites, given reasonable accommodations.
- Read and write printed material related to the job.
- Use a computer and develop written correspondence efficiently.
- Provide physical assistance to individuals which consists of: lifting (35 lbs. max.), bending, twisting, ambulating up and down stairs, maintaining balance on a variety of surfaces, working with challenging behaviors that may require physical support, assisting individuals with personal care, and emergency situations.
- Access people’s homes that are not handicapped accessible as needed.
