Home and Community Options (HCO) is proud to celebrate a significant milestone in 2025—our 50th anniversary of empowering and supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in the Winona area. We are truly blessed to be part of the lives of the individuals we serve. Getting to know them and witnessing their growth and achievements over the years has been immensely fulfilling for all of us here at HCO.
To kick off this special year, we hosted a Ribbon Cutting ceremony on January 22nd, bringing together some of the individuals whose lives we’ve had the privilege to touch, along with their families, staff, Board Members, and community supporters. We were especially honored to have the Winona Chamber of Commerce with us to help officially mark this incredible achievement. The event was a heartfelt reflection of our shared journey and the strong, personal connections that make our mission so meaningful and impactful.
Attendees enjoyed a warm afternoon of reminiscing, sharing stories, and reflecting on the agency’s rich history of service and community impact. It was an opportunity to celebrate not only our past but also the growth and progress we’ve made over the years, thanks to the dedication and hard work of so many individuals.
As we reflect on 50 years of service, it is clear that HCO’s journey has been one of compassion, commitment, and transformation. From our humble beginnings to the thriving agency we are today, we have continually strived to offer individuals with developmental disabilities opportunities to live more independent, fulfilling lives in their communities. The ongoing support from our staff, families, Board Members, and the Winona community has been instrumental in this success.
Guests were treated to refreshments, and many took time to reconnect with old friends, sharing laughter and fond memories. The atmosphere was one of warmth and gratitude, and it was inspiring to see the strong bond that has been formed over decades of collaboration and care.
Looking ahead, HCO remains committed to our mission of supporting individuals to reach their fullest potential. The ribbon cutting was just the first of several things planned throughout the year to honor our past, present, and future.
We are excited for what’s to come as we continue to provide opportunities, build connections, and make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.
