Home and Community Options recently completed its Strategic Plan for 2017-2019 which focused on improving communication with our stakeholders. Our goal was to increase contact with our families, legislators, and donors, as well as provide more communication with the community. Various ways we hoped to reach this group were by providing additional publicity and marketing, developing staff emissaries, and by increasing family involvement and community integration.
Throughout the 2-year period, a variety of forms of communication were used to discuss critical issues with those that we serve and their families. This included regular correspondence, phone calls, e-mails, and updates in the newsletter, as well as one on one meetings.
Individuals that we support and their families advocated for their own services through letters to their legislators, trips to the Capitol, and participation in our Grassroots Advocacy Task Force. We also had many opportunities to meet with our state legislators to share information about the work that we do and the critical issues that we are facing.
We increased communication though the development of a monthly electronic newsletter, which includes stories of the individuals we support and our staff, along with critical issues and upcoming and recent events. A variety of marketing materials were developed, our website was updated, and a new agency video was completed.
Throughout the 2-year period, we provided opportunities for our staff and the individuals we support to be more engaged in the community by actively participating in and sharing information about HCO at a variety of activities and events throughout the community.
Plans are being put into place for our 2019-2021 Strategic Plan which will have a focus on Recruitment and Retention, along with sharing our Mission, Vision, and Core Values with the community. Stay tuned!
