Mikahla is from Fountain City, WI. She lived in Washington state for two years after graduating from high school. Her neighbors, a mother and her son, had learning disabilities. She would often help them with cooking, reading and writing, and also spent time with them in the community. When she moved back to Wisconsin, she realized that she would like to find a job similar to what she was doing in Washington. One of her friends told her about HCO, and she applied later that day. Mikahla began working at HCO in January of 2015 as a Direct Support Trainee at the 721 Main program. She has also cross-trained at the 3925 program and recently was filling in at the HWY 14 program as a temporary Program Assistant. She was promoted to the Primary Counselor position at the 721 Main program.
She enjoys the daily interaction with all of the individuals that she supports and seeing them grow within the four years she has had the opportunity to be a part of their lives. She cannot wait to be a part of many more years with them. In her new role, she is looking forward to growing within her position, taking on new responsibilities, and helping the individuals in their daily lives to become the best that they can be.
Mikahla moved to Washington because her fiancée was stationed there in the military. She loved living where she was an hour away from Seattle and was surrounded by the mountains. She graduated from Southeast Technical College with a degree in Early Childhood Education in the spring of 2018. This August she is getting married to her high school sweetheart, Tim. When she is not at work she enjoys kayaking, hiking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
