Iverson Court is a twenty-four unit apartment complex for adults with developmental disabilities. To qualify, individuals must meet very low-income guidelines, have self-preservation skills necessary to live independently, and have the maturity to abide by a Lease Agreement. Apartment rent is subsidized through assistance from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The main building has three floors of one-bedroom units. There is a large elevator, laundry room, and a community room on the main floor that may be used for special events and tenant meetings. The smaller building (duplex) has two apartments with two bedrooms in each. Both have wheelchair accessible doorways, bathrooms, and kitchens. In addition to the bedroom, all units in the complex have a living room, kitchen with a dining area, a bathroom, closets, and a storage area. Major appliances are furnished along with most utilities. The apartment complex and grounds are well maintained and equipped with security systems for safety. The buildings are located on the bus line in a residential area close to restaurants, shopping, and churches.
Although tenants are expected to live independently, a daytime manager and an evening assistant are available to assist if problems arise. Tenants frequently receive other community supports to maintain their independence.
